Fairphone is about to announce its sixth smartphone, the Fairphone 5. That weird numbering scheme is because of the Fairphone 3+. Renders of the Fairphone 5 that now show up tell us that Fairphone is continuing its predecessor's path.
As far as we're concerned, the Fairphone 5 looks like a nice and modern smartphone with friendly curves, a quirky triangular camera module at the back, and this time with a real punch-hole for the selfie camera. Gone is the dated notch. At least according to renders that Android Authority have uncovered.
Expect the Fairphone 5 in three colors, although you can hardly call the transparent version a color. Unfortunately, the green version is missing. Last year it was even available in two green versions; Green and Speckled Green. In that respect, this year, it all looks a bit more traditional and tedious as far as we are concerned.
Sustainable
The Fairphone 4 is almost two years old at the time of writing. Not releasing a new model every year fits perfectly with the sustainable nature of Fairphone, whose phones are characterized by sustainable, recycled, and fair materials. That renders are now surfacing may say something about how long it will take before it becomes official. We don't expect long.
