In addition to product renders of the Fold5, we are also treated to renders of the Flip5. The foldable device has a considerably larger cover screen and a remarkable shape.
Samsung cannot stay behind with the Flip 5. Motorola is on the verge of announcing a similar device with a much larger cover screen. Samsung also goes in that direction, but the second screen won't be square or rectangular. Instead, the shape looks most like a tab.
These renders also originate from @onleaks, which has teamed up with MediaPeanut for this leak. Also presumably like the Z Flip 5, the Fold5 will get the revamped hinge that closes completely flat. This results in a much thinner device when folded.
Less visible fold
The new hinge has another added benefit. It makes the crease less visible. We noticed this crease during our Flip4 review.
Besides an updated hinge and a more extensive cover screen, the other specifications will sound familiar. In this, the device differs little from the existing Flip 4—for example, a 6.7-inch screen inside, a dual camera outside, and the latest Snapdragon processor inside. However, Samsung possibly has another surprise in store regarding the software.
Galaxy Unpacked
The unveiling of the Galaxy Flip 5 is scheduled for late July. Usually, Samsung announces its new generation of foldables in August, but rumors about bringing this forward are gaining traction. In addition to Samsung, Google is also releasing a foldable soon, and Samsung may want to attack it fully.
