We may have gotten a look at the future Flip 3 and Fold 3. These 2 new foldable phones from the Galaxy Z series have not been announced yet but that may not be long in coming. The images appear to be from a promotional video, though we're still keeping an open mind.
The images are from a number of sources that are not yet very well known. So we can't vouch for its authenticity. The leak starts with the Galaxy Z Flip 3; the third iteration of Samsung's clamshell foldable. Samsung skips the Z Flip 2, though the 5G version of Z Flip can be regarded as the 2nd Flip.
For the Z Flip 3, Samsung seems to be using a two-toned design. This makes it look a bit like former Pixel phones. It was previously thought that Samsung might apply the same Contour Cut Camera style as with the S21. There doesn't seem to be any question of that. Possibly to better integrate the secondary screen into the design. On the Z Flip, it is still very prominent visible. The leak also clearly shows that the screen will be a lot bigger, something that was already taken into account. Instead of only 2 rows of text we see at least 5 in the example.
More color options for Flip 3
Also, the foldable Flip 3 seems to come out in at least 4 different colors; white, gray, purple and blue/green. The previous generation was only available in 2 colors; Mystic Bronze and Mystic Gray. Specifications are not given except for what is visible on the images. There we can read that the device is wrapped in the new Gorilla Glass Victus. The hinge also looks different and is possibly even sturdier with more protection against dust and dirt.
Fold 3 first with Under Display Camera
The future Galaxy Z Fold 3 will also get the sturdier Gorilla Glass Victus with a new hinge. The biggest eye catcher seems to be the selfie camera, which is placed invisibly under the screen. This makes the Fold 3 the first to have a so-called Under Display Camera
On the back of the successor to the Fold 2, there seems to be 3 cameras. Strangely enough, there is no Contour Cut Camera here either. Why exactly should become clear when Samsung announces the Fold 3. The only reason we can think of for now is that the device might look a bit too fat. But let's wait until Samsung officially announces both phones, until then everything is still uncertain.
The Fold3 is also expected to be the first Fold with support for Samsung's S Pen. This means that you can not only operate it with a stylus, but also take notes with it. Ideal for such a large screen. It is also rumored that the Galaxy Fold 3 is the first foldable phone with a waterproof IP rating. For this, the necessary changes would be needed, especially to the hinge. The launch of both phones seems to take place somewhere around June/July. In the meantime, a lot can change.
