The possibly soon-to-be-released Google Pixel Watch 2 promises significantly longer battery life. At least if Google follows through with its plan to swap Samsung for Qualcomm.
During I/O 2022, Google announced the Pixel Watch. A proprietary smartwatch with a round display. Meanwhile, Google I/O 2023 is already behind us, but the search giant failed to show the Pixel Watch 2. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking, and the first rumors about this new watch are trickling in.
Google is reportedly considering replacing the Samsung Exynos processor inside for Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon W5 chip. This chipset promises to be much more power efficient and, at the same time, much faster. At least, that is what 9to5Google writes. The reason why Google is making the switch from Samsung to Qualcomm is unclear. Samsung also has a newer and improved chip for use in smartwatches.
Launch date Pixel Watch 2
Longer battery life would be more than welcome. Users of the first-generation Pixel Watch report up to a day of use, and that's without AOD (Always On Display). When Google will announce the Pixel Watch 2 is still unclear. It would make sense to introduce it along with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. Those products are expected in the fall of 2023.
