Apple shows iOS 18 with Generative AI on June 10

iOS 18, intended for iPhones including the yet-to-be-announced iPhone 16, will be shown for the first time on June 10, 2024. Apple's new operating system will be demonstrated at WWDC and will include many AI features to take on Android 15 and interfaces such as One UI 6.1.

WWDC 2024 will take place from June 10 through June 14. Apple traditionally uses this developer conference to explain new software versions. We are particularly interested in the first demo of iOS 18, meant to come out along with the iPhone 16.

WWDC24 announcement

WWDC kicks off with a presentation to be held at 10:00 local time, 19:00 Central European Time. Apple gives no hints this time, other than to talk about "groundbreaking updates." The invitation further features the Swift logo in the shape of a bird. Swift is the name of Apple's programming language.

iOS 18: Generative AI

iOS 18 is said to add many AI features. Apple lags behind competitors such as Google and Samsung in this area. Google Pixel phones and Samsung One UI already include many features that conveniently use generative AI to adjust images and summarize text.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg previously reported that Apple iOS 18 includes the following features:

  • More natural interaction with Siri
  • Automatically generate nonexistent emojis
  • Retouching photos
  • Suggesting responses in email and messages
  • Converting voice memos to text

Whether all this will be enough to connect with Android 15 and One UI 6.1 remains to be seen. Apple's been so busy in recent years with the Vision Pro and the car project that it has been overtaken left and right in terms of AI.
