Logo for 6G is official, 6G standard not yet

While the Netherlands is still waiting for the full bandwidth of 5G to become available, its successor is already in the starting blocks. The first hurdle has already been taken with the unveiling of an official logo.

3GPP, a consortium which develops standards for mobile technology, has unveiled the official logo for 6G. This should increase the recognition of 6G, should it become available in due course. 3GPP also previously released logos of LTE, LTE Advanced, LTE Advanced Pro, 5G and 5G-Advanced.

Anyone looking through their eyelashes will recognize the symbol for infinity in the 6G logo: ?. This is no coincidence; 6G promises download speeds of 1 Tbit/s, 100x faster than 5G's theoretical speed of 10 Gbit/s.

6G standard

The logo may be official, but the 6G standard is not yet. Goals of the standard are higher speeds, lower latency and, above all, more energy-efficient communications. To achieve this, it uses radiation in the terahertz range. The first applications are not expected before 2030.
