Lenovo has announced the Motorola edge 40 Pro. A device that still has a high 60MP selfie camera, but this time has a considerably more waterproof body and much faster charging.
Lenovo has given the edge 40 Pro some more than welcome upgrades. One is the display. Here the screen bezels are slightly thinner, the refresh rate goes up from 144 to 165Hz, and the more rigid Gorilla Glass Victus is now being used. True to its name, all four edges of the screen are curved.
Other upgrades include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from Qualcomm. This gives the Motorola edge 40 Pro not only 35% more speed but also brings the capabilities of WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. This WiFi version may not be widely available yet, but the device is prepared for it.
8K video with Horizon Lock
Three cameras still sit at the back; a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP ultra-wide-angle with macro mode, and an updated 12MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom. The selfie camera remains the same; a high-resolution 60MP one with an f/2.2 lens. In addition, the video camera now features Horizon Lock, where videos are stabilized along the horizon resulting in perfectly level videos.
IP68 and 125W fast charging
Also noteworthy is the housing, which is better at keeping water out this time. The rating goes up from IP52 to IP68, equivalent to competitor flagships. Also remarkable is how fast the 4600 mAh battery of the edge 40 Pro can be charged. With a whopping 125 watts, it fully charges in 23 minutes, according to Lenovo. Wireless charging is also among the options this time. That goes with 15W, and wireless sharing goes with 5W.
edge 40 Price price and availability
Expect to see the Motorola edge 40 Pro in stores around the second week of April for a suggested retail price of €899.99. For this, you get the base model with 256GB of storage. A 512GB version is also expected. Available colors are Interstellar Black and Lunar Blue.
