Stop the presses: design Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 different after all
Anyone who knows us a little knows that we don't hide our opinions. So when the first renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 appeared, and turned out to be a 1-to-1 copy of the Flip 6 then we expressed our disappointment big time. But we were wrong, it turns out.
The source of the original renders, @Onleaks, has received new information. And that has major implications for the design of the Samsung Flip 7. The cover screen will be full-screen, according to the images below.

We already knew from previous information that Samsung is applying slightly larger screens in the Flip 7. Both inside and outside. The latter does not surprise us at all, given the move away from the tab format of the earlier Flip 6. This makes the design of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 look more like the Motorola razr 50 Ultra.
Screen size over the years
Why @Onleaks initially got it wrong does Android Headlines not tell. On that publication, @Onleaks' images appeared exclusively.

The Flip series' cover screen has been enlarged every two generations over the years;
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip - Flip 5G | 1.1 inch |
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 - Flip 4 | 1,9 inches |
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 - Flip 6 | 3.4 inches |
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | +/- 4.0 inches |
We retract our criticism now that we know the design is changing anyway. The rest of the design is still modern enough, and a larger cover screen makes it easier to use the Flip 7 closed as a full-fledged phone as well. And we look forward to whatever additional uses Samsung comes up with for it. They still have a while because the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected sometime in late summer.
