Huawei Pura X is remarkably wide and new foldable
Huawei has launched a new foldable with a very distinctive size. When folded, the Pura X looks like a clamshell foldable like the Samsung Flip 6 but once opened it becomes a book-style foldable. As a result, the Pura X offers the benefits of both styles in one design.
The inner screen of the newly announced Huawei Pura X measures 6.3 inches which seems very small anno 2025. But because it is a 16:10 aspect ratio, the screen is actually very large. In terms of surface area, that is, and that is what counts. Its resolution is 2120 by 1320 pixels with a refresh rate of between 1 and 120 Hz.

Outside sits a square 3.5-inch cover screen. In images Huawei released of the Pura X they put the device on its side. This makes the device look very similar to other clamshell foldables such as Samsung's Flip 6 and Motorola's razr 50 Ultra.
Lots of cameras
For a clamshell foldable, the Huawei Pura X boasts quite a few cameras. We count a 50MP main camera with f/1.6 lens with OIS, a 40MP ultra-wide-angle with macro function and an 8MP telephoto also with OIS. Color fidelity of photos is monitored by a 1.5MP color camera. Inside is another camera, a 10.7 megapixel one that we also found in the P50 Pocket.
Charging the 4720 mAh large battery is lightning fast to as much as 100W wired and 40W wireless. The case of the device is IPX8 waterproof and comes out in two versions; one made of glass and a version made of vegan leather. If that's not exclusive enough for you, there's the Pura X Collector's Edition with 16GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage. That version also features support for China's Tiantong satellite communications.

For now, there are no plans to release the device with HarmonyOS 5 outside of China. We think that's a shame because the established foldable brands could use some competition. But since the device does not run Android and support Google services, we can understand skipping us.
