Rumor: iOS 19 looks considerably different, looks more like visionOS
iOS 19 on the iPhone 17 will look very different. So claim several knowledgeable sources. This appears to make iOS 19 the biggest change since iOS 7 that said goodbye to skeuomorphism design and ushered in the era of flat design.
Apple thrilled the world with the arrival of iOS 7 and the introduction of Flat Design. Suddenly, every logo became flat, single-color and shadows were banned. Whether the same kind of trend will take hold when Apple launches iOS 19 remains to be seen. In any case, things are going to look considerably different starting with version 19.
Because according to three different sources, including Mark Gurman, iOS 19 will bear more resemblance to visionOS used on the Vision Pro. That platform is characterized by round icons, lots of depth and partial transparency. The purpose of all this is to make the platforms more similar to each other.
More unity
On the iPhone, Apple primarily uses square icons with rounded edges on a grid of equal boxes. On the Apple Watch, on the other hand, it uses round icons positioned like a honeycomb. And the Vision Pro looks very different again with many transparent elements that actually appear to have depth. Not to mention macOS, which again uses everything interchangeably.
