We showed you CAD renders of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro some time ago. But we made a mistake. Those renders were the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. That means you still owe us the renders of the Pixel 9. And we are now fulfilling that promise.
At the time, we were surprised to see that the supposed Pixel 9 was equipped with a periscope camera for better zooming—something Google only used for the Pro model. The latter remains true because, seemingly, we were looking at the Pixel 9 Pro. A 6.1-inch small 9 Pro to be precise.
Google used the XL naming scheme even before it introduced the Pro models. Only from the Pixel 4 XL did it stop doing so before switching to a new naming scheme with the Pixel 6 Pro. As of the Pixel 9, both names appear to be coming together with an entry-level model, a more enhanced Pro version, and a larger Pro XL version. Where else do we see this?
Will your real Pixel 9 stand up?
Renders of the Pixel 9 also appeared at 91mobiles. That site previously published renders of what now appeared to be the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Not just photos but also specs.
Pixel 9 | Pixel 9 Pro | Pixel 9 Pro XL | |
---|---|---|---|
Dimensions | 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm | 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm | Unknown |
Screen size | 6.03 inch | 6.1 inch | 6.5 inch |
Cameras | 2 | 3 | 3 |
What is striking about this is how small the Pixel 9 will be: a screen size of 6.03 inches. This makes even the Pixel 9 Pro with its expected 6.1 inches smaller than the current Pixel 8.
More recognizable back cover
The back of the Google Pixel 9 does seem to bear more similarities to the Google Pixel 8. We see two cameras, likely a wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle. Whether the color option shown here will soon be available remains to be seen. Google is reportedly working on new colors, though.
