Samsung has given one of its most popular phones an update. The Galaxy A55 gets a larger screen with a body that's this time made of metal.
Samsung is matching the design of the Galaxy A55 5G with the also recently announced Galaxy S-series. That means flat sides, which are also metal this time around. That makes the A55 feel more premium in the hand.
To underline the difference with the more expensive S24, the A55 features the Key Island. This means the volume keys are slightly raised, making them more accessible to feel by touch alone. Also, you now have a place for your finger to rest while looking at the revamped display. That measures a wider 6.6 inches, is 1000 nits bright this time, and is protected by sturdier Gorilla Glass Victus+.
Improved night mode
Capture photos with the 50MP wide-angle camera, the 12MP ultra-wide-angle, or the 5MP macro lens. The presence of a new ISP (Image Signal Processor) with AI functionality makes the A55 5G more capable of night photography. We also saw this improved Nightography in recent Galaxy S models.
Knox Vault
For the first time, Samsung is using its Knox Vault security software on a Galaxy A model. Knox Vault keeps PIN codes, passwords, and fingerprints out of the hands of hackers by storing them separately from the rest of the memory.
Temporary Buds FE gift
Samsung is releasing the Galaxy A55 5G in four colors: Awesome Navy, Awesome Ice Blue, Awesome Lilac, and Awesome Lemon. Prices start at €479 for the model with 128GB of storage and go up to €529 for 256GB. Buyers will receive a set of Galaxy Buds FE earbuds for free until April 14th.
