Qtek 8500

After the introduction of the i-mate Smartflip Qtek is next with the Qtek 8500. The device has the same looks as the i-mate shown to the world at 3GSM. There aren't any differences between the two, only the branding and the amount of pre-installed software will be different.

NewMobile can show you the first pictures of the new Qtek 8500 made at the Dangaard stand at Cebit 2006. The new device is due to the hit market around May 2006. Prices are not yet known at this stage.

Samsung i310

One of the killers at Cebit 2006 was the new i310 with build-in 8 GB harddisk. Unfortuneately there were no devices which had the 8 GB harddisk inside. It were all devices equipped with 4 GB harddisks. The i310 is next to the harddisk equipped with loads of new and unique Windows Mobile features and has some really nice looks as we can expect from Samsung.

The first feature is the special menu in the homescreen, which is shown when the central rotating key is used. The small menu gives the option to scroll through several options as shortcuts to programs, appointments, missed calls and incoming messages. A really nice and innovative feature which expands the new device to a true ergonomic wonder.

The second feature is the new camera. The 2.0 Mpixel camera is currently the best camera in a Windows Mobile device and the videocamera shoots videos in a VGA resolution. This makes it the first real videocamera device with the Windows Mobile operating system. The device can record more than ten days on the internal drive (When 8 MB is equal to 15 seconds of video), which is really unique for any device in the current market.

Samsung really made something special of the new i310. Next to the harddisk the new device is a videocamera with super quality and contains EDGE, GPRS, document viewer, TV-output, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), digital power amp and dual speakers. A better multimedia smartphone is not introduced yet at this stage. One small problem; the i310 will not hit the market before August.

T-mobile MDA Vario II

Next to the i310 the new T-mobile MDA Vario II is the second major leap within the Windows Mobile branch. The new HSDPA, UMTS and 2.0 Mpixel camera device is the first in the line of HTC Hermes devices which will hit the market soon with several providers and brands, such as Vodafone, Qtek and i-mate.

The new device is the successor of the MDA Vario (also called HTC Wizard) and brings several new features such as the new 3-way directional scroll key on the side of the device and the new TwinCam concept. On the front there is a VGA camera for videotelefony and on the back you will find a 2.0 Mpixel camera with flash and CIF videorecording resolution. Furthermore all functionalities and features from the MDA Vario are available in the new Vario II.

One small thing are the looks of the new device. It rather looks bulky and not so nice as the "old" Vario. That is mainly due to the features that had to be build-in the new device.

The Vario II will be available around the time HSDPA is introducted in several countries. Germany will have the new device pretty soon. Other countries will follow latter on.

The device will have the same specifications as the other mentioned devices, but will differ on the content of the box and the pre-installed software. Prices are not yet known at this stage.
