Onleaks has been the first to show renders of the yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. At first glance, the device does not appear to be much different except for the slightly thicker casing. Does this mean the Flip 6 will get a larger battery?
The Galaxy Flip is Samsung's most affordable foldable. However, it's only what you call inexpensive. The starting price of a new Flip still exceeds the psychological thousand-euro-mark. Still, it is the Flip we encounter most in daily life. For the Flip 6, Samsung may have a surprise up its sleeve.
Renders of the new foldable device appeared at Smartprix and are made by @onleaks. The renders look very similar to the existing Z Flip 5 until we compare the dimensions.
Thicker body = larger battery?
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 promises to be 0.5 millimeters thicker. The leading reason manufacturers make phones thicker is to find room for a larger battery. The battery in the Flip 5 currently has a capacity of 3,700 mAh.
Almost all Flip models have somewhat problematic battery life. Squeezing much longer than a day out of its battery is hard to do. A larger battery is, therefore, very welcome. Let's hope Samsung found a way for at least a 4000 mAh battery.
Earlier than usual launch
We can't spot many other differences. On the outside, two cameras still sit in the corner; the cover screen measures 3.4 inches, while the inside screen remains at 6.7 inches. The location of the buttons, fingerprint scanner, and ports all seem to be in the same place.
We may see the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 earlier than usual. There are rumors that the next Galaxy Unpacked will occur as early as July, simultaneously with the start of the Summer Olympics in Paris. That sporting event is scheduled for July 26.
