Samsung Galaxy S22 FE may get MediaTek processor

Samsung makes smartphones and Samsung makes processors. So it's not surprising that we often see the two together. And Samsung does sometimes store outside its own store, primarily at Qualcomm. But at MediaTek? For the upcoming Galaxy S22 FE, we strongly suspect so.

The Galaxy S22 FE; a Fan Edition phone with high-end specifications at a competitive price. So far, Samsung has always spooned a Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm or its own Exynos under the hood. A Samsung with a MediaTek we do not see often, and if we see it at all then often in the lower segment. Still, the S22 FE is rumored to get the MediaTek Dimensity 9000.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 soon in a Samsung?

MediaTek is best known for its relatively simple and therefore inexpensive processors. As such, it is a widely used chipset for relatively simple phones. However, the Dimensity 9000 announced in December 2021 scores high when it comes to performance. It even manages to beat Qualcomm's most comprehensive processor in benchmarks; the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is also faster than anything Samsung offers in its Exynos line.

For Galaxy S22 FE or A53 Pro?

Should Samsung indeed apply the MediaTek 9000 in the Galaxy S22 FE as is now reported it could be interesting. On paper, this still unannounced Fan Edition would then be more powerful than the S22 with its Exynos 2200 (Europe) or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (rest of the world).

The source is still uncertain whether the chipset is not intended for the Galaxy A53 Pro, an expanded version of the recently announced Galaxy A53 5G. Which of the two it will be remains to be seen. And considering that the S21 FE was only announced two months ago, it could be a while yet.
