Samsung and Apple aside: Vivo X200 Ultra photographed in the wild
People are creatures of habit. Once they have done something this way, they will always do it this way from now on. If someone once bought an iPhone, chances are they will buy an iPhone again after that. The same goes for Samsung. But there are other phone brands. Brands that do innovate. Vivo, for example.
Vivio may not be very well known outside of China, but its devices are on sale here. Consider the X200 and X200 Pro announced at the turn of the year. They're just here in stores, and they're giving established brands a hard time with high-quality Zeiss lenses and premium displays. We can soon include the X200 Ultra among those.

The picture of the Vivo X200 Ultra shown above make it clear that this is not an ultra-thin device. The round camera island familiar to Vivo sticks out quite a bit. That is necessary to accommodate the various cameras, and Vivo has not skimped on that. This device should be the ultimate camera phone.
Samsung ISOCELL HP9
If the rumors are true, the device will get an ultra-wide-angle and 200MP periscope camera in addition to a 35mm main camera. For the latter, Vivo is using Samsung's ISOCELL HP9 sensor. We also find this 1/1.4-inch sensor in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and even the predecessor of this X200U; the X100 Ultra. Samsung ultimately did not apply the sensor itself in the Galaxy S25 Ultra because of its thickness.
