Ice Universe: Camera Apple iPhone 17 Air protrudes more than first assumed
According to insider Ice Universe, the camera module of the upcoming iPhone 17 Air sticks out quite a bit. Almost as much as the entire device is thick. Will Apple's thinnest iPhone actually be thin?
Exactly how thick the iPhone 17 Air will be, opinions are divided. Let's put it at around 5.5 millimeters. That's measured from the thinnest point of the phone. If we include the camera module, we can add another 4 millimeters to that, according to Ice Universe. So a total of 9.5 millimeters. What the heck thin!

A good camera with a quality lens takes up a lot of space, but note that Apple applies one for the iPhone 17 Air. Even the entry-level iPhone, the iPhone 16, has two on board. The only iPhone with only one camera is the iPhone 16e, and it is currently being mercilessly attacked in initial reviews for its many shortcomings.
iPhone 17 Air gets thicker than Pixel 9a
Apple cannot get away with a lesser, thinner camera, to justify the presumably high price of the Air. As a result, the iPhone 17 Air is likely to be thicker overall than the Pixel 9a, which is expected soon. From that, the camera barely sticks out, and it will sit around 9 millimeters.

Still, we expect the Apple iPhone 17 Air to feel thin, despite the elongated camera module sticking out quite a bit. It will undoubtedly be the star of the show when it is announced as the "One More Thing." That won't happen until sometime in the fall at the earliest.
