Modern phones are very hard to repair, by yourself that is. Samsung's just-announced Galaxy S22+ is no exception as becomes clear by this teardown video by PBKreview.
Companies prefer to earn as much money as possible, and so do mobile phone manufacturers. They prefer to sell you a new one every 2 years. And if your current phone breaks down they will gladly sell you a new one. Repairing your own phone is a thing of the past. Partly because manufacturers make it unnecessarily difficult for you to do simple repairs yourself.
The same seems to be true for the Samsung Galaxy S22+. Simple repairs like replacing a battery are in reality not that simple. Or rather; made unnecessarily difficult. For example, the battery of the S22 Plus is once again glued on instead of Samsung using a pull tab. You can only remove it by carefully using isopropanol. Samsung would rather have you buy a new mobile, preferably a Samsung Galaxy.
Unjustified high repairability score?
The display is also not easy to replace yourself. Now with the S22+ it is flat so less susceptible to drop damage but glass is glass and glass can break. Replacing it is only possible by taking apart almost the entire device. A time consuming task and not one without risk.
Despite all of this PBKreview gives the Galaxy S22 Plus a repair score of 7.5 out of 10. Pretty high if you ask us. Especially when you consider that PBKreview inadvertently damaged the screen while putting the device back together. Proof that repairing it is a risky task even for professionals.
