The launch of the Fold 6 is still a long way off, but renders of the new device are already out in the open. And while we were previously expecting a substantially wider device, it now appears that the new Fold will mostly stick to its predecessor. But this time, it is more flat.
Anyone looking at the renders below will immediately notice how angular the Fold 6 is. The flat sides and the minimal curvature of the corners. And the proportions of the device look a lot like those of the Fold 5.
Looking at the measurements, it does appear that things have changed substantially. The Fold 6 is only 2.6 millimeters wider and 1.4 millimeters shorter. That's not fundamentally different, but then again, every little bit to make the device more usable when folded is a bonus.
Not much wider
When unfolded, the device is 6.1 millimeters thick. This makes us believe that when folded, the device is not much thinner than the Fold 5. Earlier rumors suggested that the Samsung Fold 6 would be much thinner and wider, something that is not evident from these renders and information.
Besides some minor tweaks, Samsung does not seem to be making many changes to the design. Still, Samsung may have some surprises in store on the hardware front. Perhaps Gorilla Glass Armor for the display to reduce reflection and a modified version of Qualcomm's most powerful chipset today: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Galaxy AI
Samsung may also bring innovation on the software front in the form of Galaxy AI. Perhaps by the time the Z Fold 6 is announced, it may be able to do even more than the S24 series.
