For some time now, it has been rumored that Apple is also moving away from the notch. Instead, the iPhone 14 will get a punch-hole. But not a single hole because Face ID requires some more space. So there will be two holes, and together they will take up as much space as the previous notch.
As mentioned, the iPhone 14 does not get a single Hole-Punch camera. Most Android phones have one; a tiny round in the middle of the screen or in the corner. Some manufacturers experimented with a dual selfie camera placed inside a pill shape. Apple seems to be doing the latter now as well.
But to have a unique design, that pill is accompanied by a punch-hole. The reason is probably because the various Face ID components need space. Apple has bet big on face recognition and then concessions have to be made elsewhere. As becomes evident by looking at the picture above.
No more screen space
We see the layout of the new screen with the various cutouts. Whether this looks good, we leave that up to you. Who, with the earlier news, had counted on a less obstructing notch will be disappointed. The display of the iPhone 14 doesn't get many more pixels. All in all, the punch-holes take up almost as much space as the current notch.
