JerryRigEverything, meanwhile, has also tested the Galaxy S25 Ultra inside. Just last year he pronounced "Scratches at level 7, with deeper grooves at level 8" for the first time, and so we're curious about his findings for the S25 Ultra. And what turns out? On the face of it, the Galaxy Ultra models of recent years look very similar. Yet there has been steady improvement over the years, although sometimes it seems like taking one step back and two forward. This is no different for the S25 Ultra with its stripped-down S Pen. What is striking from JerryRigEverything's video is that the battery section in the device is left empty. As if a last-minute decision was made to remove Bluetooth.
Another notable point from the video relates to the cameras. And in particular the rings above them. Samsung last left them floating this time making it an ideal place for dust and dirt to collect. But it also provides space for Zack's his stanley knife. And with some force, he easily pry the rings off the housing. With this, peeling off the S25 Ultra has become an unplanned extra feature.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra further passes the durability test with flying colors. That's no surprise either because once again, the S25 Ultra is made of titanium. At least, just the frame. Not the buttons, which have a matching color but are not made of the sturdier titanium.
Scratch again at 6, with deeper grooves at 7
The front is made of Gorilla Armor 2. Just last year, Zach was impressed with the first generation Armor for its scratch resistance that only starts scratching at 7 on the Mohs scale. Interestingly, the glass in the S25 Ultra begins to scratch again at 6.
So it seems Corning has abandoned scratch resistance slightly in favor of break resistance. After all, Gorilla Armor 2 withstands falls up to 2.2 meters. Something that could not be said of Gorilla Armor 1.
