Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra S-Pen may lose important function

S Pen in S25 Ultra does not feature Bluetooth

The Galaxy S25 Ultra's S-Pen does not feature Bluetooth like its predecessor. The question now is whether the stylus loses longstanding features such as camera remote control and Air Actions.

For generations, there has been a pen built into the Galaxy S Ultra. Some use it to control the screen, others to take notes. For some years now, it has been equipped with Bluetooth so you can also control your device from a distance. But whether this feature is also in the S25 Ultra remains to be seen.

Samsung has been focusing heavily on AI features in recent years, including Circle to Search. And you don't need Bluetooth for that at all. Features like a remote control for your camera have become so unimportant that they are not even mentioned on Samsung's S24 Ultra website.

Unclear if there will be replacements

It is insider Ishan Agarwal (X/@ishanagarwal24) who is the first to mention losing Bluetooth in the S-Pen of the S25 Ultra. It would make the pen look less complex. It would also theoretically make the S25 Ultra battery last longer. After all, there is less need to connect with one accessory.

Still, other methods are conceivable to make up for the lack of Bluetooth, UWB for example. Whatever it will be, it will become clear Jan. 22. Then Samsung will hold its long-awaited Galaxy Unpacked event where the S25 series will be made official. We look forward to hearing more then.
