Samsung may announce tri-fold smartphone as early as 2025

Samsung has been faithfully releasing small updates to its existing foldables for years, but something entirely new may be coming this year. Rumor has it that Samsung wants to release its first tri-fold foldable this year. A third foldable in the lineup, in other words.

Samsung already has a phone you can close vertically with the Flip, and with the Fold a phone you close like a book. However when Huawei announced the Mate XT there appeared to be a third way. The biggest foldable manufacturer couldn't let that go over its head, and so there's an answer.

And so we may get to see that as early as this year. According to the source, even as early as the third quarter, sometime between July and September, that is. That coincides with the annual launch of the new Flip and Fold model. Samsung reportedly intends to release its new foldable in a limited edition. That automatically means that not every country should expect a launch.

Fills exactly the gap between foldables and tablets

And if history teaches us anything is that the Netherlands is then often left out. That may change if sales prove successful. The screen of Samsung's as yet unnamed foldable should be between 9.9 and 10 inches when unfolded. That's considerably larger than the 7.6 inches of the Fold 6 and slightly smaller than most Galaxy tablets.
