Based on rumors, we already know quite a bit about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S20 series. Specs, appearance and future judging; it's almost all known. However, renders are occasionally updated on the basis of the latest rumors. So did the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
It is in fact the Galaxy S20 Ultra which is the only S20 model equipped with a 108 megapixel camera sensor. It is capable of an unprecedented high hybrid 100x zoom, something Samsung calls 'Space Zoom'. It is sufficient to photograph the surface of the moon. With your mobile! Who would have thought that 10 years ago?
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra promises to be a big boy. With a 6.9 inch screen with 3200 by 1440 pixels, that's no different. The weight is even 221 grams. The new Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display can handle a high 120Hz refresh rate and there are stereo Dolby Atmos speakers tuned by AKG.
10x optical zoom, 100x hybrid zoom
In the camera area, the new S20 Ultra should offer the best of the best. The 108 megapixel camera sensor debuts on the Ultra, along with a 48 megapixel telephoto lens, 12 megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a ToF depth sensor. The device can shoot video in up to 8K but the most impressive is its zoom capabilities. With 10x optical zoom and up to 100x hybrid zoom, the S20 Ultra beats any other mobile phone today.
Samsung announces the S20 Ultra along with the S20 and S20+ on February 11 in San Francisco during an Unpacked Event. That starts at 20:00 Dutch time. As usual, that event can be followed live at home via a webstream. It is quite possible that Samsung pulls a 'One More Thing' out of its top hat. That could be the Galaxy Z Fold2; the South Korean manufacturer's second folding device.
