Bad news for those who have their eye on a model from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series. A price increase is unfortunately on the way, according to an increasing number of sources.
One reason for the price increase is easy to find. Samsung had to buy the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip from Qualcomm because it proved unable to fit the Exynos 2500 processor itself. That extra cost is now being passed on to consumers. The extra RAM memory and an unfavorable exchange rate also have a bad effect on the expected selling price.
As a result, both the Samsung Galaxy S25, as well as the S25+ and S25 Ultra are likely to be more expensive than last year. With last year's model, Samsung charged 899, 1149 and 1399 euros, respectively.
Slight price hike
Today's rumor comes from South Korea where Samsung is also from. The source talks about a slight price hike though that does not yet give a clue as to how much more expensive. It all goes against the grain of Samsung, which would have preferred to keep prices the same.
We too Samsung, we too. Earlier, European prices appeared at an Italian retailer. Those were 70 to 170 euros higher than the S24 family. We don't call that "light." Whether these are the actual prices will become clear Jan. 22 when Samsung announces the series during a Galaxy Unpacked.
Galaxy AI to the rescue
Samsung might justify the higher price with new Galaxy AI features. Currently, these are still free, but may have to be paid for at a later date. By promising free access when you buy one, some of the pain could be taken away.
