After images and specifications of the Google Pixel 8a appeared earlier, the sales box also leaked. An announcement seems imminent, yet it may be a while away.
The Pixel A series comprises inexpensive mid-range models with a new Tensor chip and AI features. However, the body is often made of plastic, the specs are a bit simpler, and some features are missing here and there. Despite that, the Pixel A models still sell well because they have a good camera for a reasonable price.
That seems to be no different for the upcoming Pixel 8a. The sales box shows a picture of it along with some specifications. Expect a 6.1-inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 90Hz display, the same Tensor G3 from other Pixel 8 devices, and a dual 12MP camera setup. The device may get a lower clock speed, though.
Nice specifications
Inside, we find a 4700mAh battery with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This time around, the device looks much more rounded than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a. The apparatus appears in blue, pink, and black above. The type number is G6GPR.
Google has been tinkering with its signature camera bar since the Pixel Fold. By the way, don't expect a charger with it in the box. You'll have to arrange for a maximum 27W charger yourself.
Announcement likely in May
Although Google seems to have finalized the sales box for the Pixel 8a, the device may not be announced until May. The Pixel A models usually see the light of day during Google I/O. This developer conference was last held on May 10, 2023. No definitive date has yet been set for 2024.
