First information in about resilient Google Pixel 11 series
Launch date only more than 1.5 years away
Virtually no one in this industry is worse at keeping secrets than Google. Unannounced phones are often out on the street months in advance. And information, however small, often years in advance. So too of the Pixel 11 series now, while the Pixel 10 series is still over six months away at the time of writing.
Today's information is brought to you by Android Authority. And it's quite a feat to find out something over a year and a half before a launch. This time about the Pixel 11 series consisting of the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. You read that right folks, nothing will change in the lineup for the next two generations.
Today's news is specifically about the code names and type numbers. Of the Pixel 11 series, those are;
Code name | Type number | |
---|---|---|
Pixel 11 | Cubs | 4CS4 |
Pixel 11 Pro | Grizzly | CGY4 |
Pixel 11 Pro XL | Kodiak | PKK4 |
Pixel 11 Pro Fold | Yogi | 9YI4 |
Google is using code names referring to bears for the 11th series. That immediately explains the title of this news item. Google is more often inspired by animals to choose code names. For example, earlier names were based on fish, reptiles and felines.
The bear reference now, however, is an appropriate one. Though it seems it comes a generation too late. This is because the Pixel 10 series is the first where Google is going to use the new and much more powerful Tensor G5. This is completely in-house developed unlike previous models that were based on a Samsung design.
But wait! There's more!
And then there is another device whose information we can tell you about for the first time; the Pixel 10a. This one too will be a long time coming but you can already address it by its codename Stallion or type number STA5.
