India approves Samsung Galaxy A36, launch appears imminent

We've spotted another unannounced Galaxy phone, and no, it's not about the Galaxy S25 this time. We are talking about the considerably cheaper A36 from Samsung's low-cost Galaxy A series. This device has just been approved for the Indian market, and thus an announcement seems imminent.

The Galaxy A36 promises to succeed the A35 from 2024, and we probably won't have to wait long for that. We can already find the device in the BIS registry; Bureau of Indian Standards. Anyone searching on SM-A366, the alleged type number of the Samsung Galaxy A36, will come across it.

Now that we know which type number belongs to the device, it appears that Samsung also has some pages ready to go. These are the support pages. We find them at Samsung Kazakhstan and Russia (where it is apparently still active despite the many sanctions against the regime).

Samsung itself also mentions the A36

The type number tells us that the Galaxy A36 is a Dual SIM phone. So was the Galaxy A35, so this is not surprising. Earlier, the A36 was rumored to get an updated look with flat sides and a redesigned camera module.

That we are now suddenly seeing information via multiple places means that a launch is imminent. Samsung logically wants to keep the attention on the (more expensive) S25 series so don't expect an unveiling until a few days after that.
