Thanks to Gorilla Glass Armor, the all-new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra shines in everyday use. Or rather, it doesn't. During testing, it becomes apparent how good the anti-reflective properties of Gorilla Glass Armor are.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first smartphone to feature Corning's new Gorilla Glass Armor. This glass should be more resistant to scratches and is less reflective against incoming light. How good the latter is becomes evident in this test. Where any glass reflects light, the S24 Ultra seems to soak it up.
Anti-reflective glass is nothing new; only then is it usually frosted. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a smooth finish but still absorbs ambient light like a sponge, as seen in the image above as posted by Ice Universe.
75% less screen reflections
We have also seen other images where ambient light is much less noticeable on the S24 Ultra than on other smartphones. During the glass unveiling, Corning said that it has 75% fewer screen reflections, and we are inclined to believe them, given the tests we have seen.
And because Corning does not use a coating or matte finish, as some monitor manufacturers do, the effect will not diminish over time. So, how the glass manages to pull this off remains unclear. Perhaps we will get an answer to that question once someone breaks the glass and analyzes it further. Because, in the end, glass is glass and glass breaks.
