A modern-looking toughphone. Manufacturers try it, but it's bending between two extremes. Samsung makes a nice attempt with the introduction of this Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro. A modern looking smartphone that can take a beating anyway.
The problem with modern smartphones is that they have to have both a thin and a large glass screen. Glass breaks, so you wouldn't want that, especially at the corners. These impact zones you prefer to provide with thick rubber. The Galaxy Xcover Pro seems to make few concessions at first glance. It has a large 6.3-inch screen and a robust IP68 housing.
The back is made of rubber with the necessary texture for sufficient grip. The screen has reasonable screen edges for 2020, but still looks modern because of its shape and of course the screen hole for the selfie camera. So it is an Infinity-O Display but the type of LCD and not AMOLED. LCD is known for its lifelike color reproduction. The contrast is not as high as with AMOLED and outdoors it is also more difficult to read. The latter does not work in his favor; the Galaxy Xcover Pro is mainly meant to be taken on the road.

The 10 millimetre thin/thick camera has 2 cameras on the back: 25 + 8 megapixels. A single 13 megapixel shooter was used at the front. Inside we find a 4020 mAh battery that surprisingly can be replaced itself. Samsung uses its own Exynos 9611 processor. That's an octa-core version with 4 GB of working memory. The storage memory comes out at 64 GB, it is still unclear whether this can be expanded with a memory card. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro has to be on the market for less than 500 euros in the colour choice black.
