We are always curious for news about Windows Mobile 7. The last buzz from the bees is that 7 breached with the 6.x applications. And yet, there are more rumours about 7.
Here's a list. Next to not being able to use version 6 applications, version 7 is capable of supporting only 2 screen resolutions. Besides this, LG announced that the first device with version 7 may be introduced around September.
Let's take a closer look at these assumptions..... The not being capable of supporting version 6 applications is because version 7 has been developed from "nothing". We slightly doubt this, but it could explain why Microsoft has been delayed with completing version 7. However, not being able capable of supporting 6. applications, will according to us, not happen. Simply because Microsoft has always believed in backwards compatibility. Hence, this is why they became so big in the first place; a purchased application, always able to function. That the "old"6.x applications can not be "native" supported by WM&, ok..But they are probably working very hard to develop an emulator which will be deliverd either free or not.
Two screenresolutions
This is where the rumours could be justified. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that it is quite a difficult job to make an operating system suitable for different kinds of hardware configurations. Less is easier. Furthermore we notice that the Android is slightly suffering from this; supporting different screenresolutions. As is, the Hyves app does not run on Motorola Milestone because of not being capable for a large screenresolution.
September release
To finalize, the release of Windows Mobile 7 somewhere in september. In spite of Microsoft being known for releasing her products on a later date then announced, Windows 7 has been released sooner then announced. The expected launch date for Windows Mobile 7 is late 2010. September is late 2010 that is plausible. As expected Microsoft will make more announcements during the MWC in February held in Barcelona.
